Starting Jan 1, 2014, CO-OPs will be able to offer health plans through the individual MarketPlaces and SHOP. CO-OPs may also offer health plans outside the Marketplaces.
- Multi-State Plans
The Affordable Care Act directs the Office of Personnel Management to contract with private health insurance insurersto provide Multi-State Plans (MSPs) in State-based Marketplaces and Fedeally-facilitated Marketplaces.Through the MSP program, plans from the same health insurance issuer will be available to families and small businesses that may reside or operate in more than one state. Enrollment in an MSP will be open to all consumers in both the Individual Markeplace and SHOP. For Plan year 2014, MSPs will not be available in all states.
- Stand alone Dental Plans
Adult dental coverage is not an EHB, and generally will not be included in the package of benefits offered by a QHP. However consumers may separately purchase stand-alone denatl plans throgh the Marketplaces. Pediatric dental is an EHB that health insurance issuers must offer as part of a QHP if it is otherwise not available in the Marketplace as a stand-alone denatl plan.
